Patient Eligibility + Contraindications
Patient Eligibility
The QT Breast Scan may be appropriate for patients who:
Dense Breast Tissue
Patients with heterogeneously dense or extremely dense breast tissue who may benefit from supplemental breast imaging. QT technology provides true 3D breast imaging and may offer additional visualization in dense tissue.
Women Seeking Supplemental Screening
Patients interested in additional breast imaging beyond routine screening recommendations or those seeking a compression-free, radiation-free imaging option.
Women Under Age 40
Patients who do not yet meet age-based mammography screening recommendations but have concerns, family history, dense breast tissue, or other risk factors and wish to discuss supplemental imaging with their healthcare provider.
Women with Breast Implants
QT imaging may be performed in patients with breast implants and does not require breast compression.
Patients Requiring Ongoing Monitoring
Patients requiring serial breast imaging may benefit from a modality that does not utilize ionizing radiation.
Contraindications & Limitations
Patients Under 18 Years of Age
QT Breast Imaging is FDA-cleared for women age 18 and older.
Open Wounds or Active Skin Conditions
Patients with significant open wounds, active infections, or skin conditions involving the breast should be evaluated individually prior to scheduling.
Inability to Tolerate Prone Positioning
The examination requires the patient to lie comfortably in a prone position for the duration of the scan. Patients unable to tolerate this positioning may not be appropriate candidates.
Not a Replacement for Mammography
QT Breast Imaging is considered a supplemental breast imaging modality and should not replace guideline-recommended screening mammography when indicated. Providers should continue to counsel patients regarding established breast cancer screening recommendations.
Not an Image-Guided Biopsy System
QT Technology does not currently provide image-guided breast biopsy capability. Additional diagnostic imaging or procedures may be recommended following interpretation of the examination.
